15 June 2017

The sixth Central Russian Economic Forum is set to take place on 16-17 June in Kursk. Metalloinvest is participating in the event and is acting as the main sponsor again this year.

The central theme of the forum is 'The Modern Economy in Cyberspace'. Issues to be discussed during the forum include: 'To what extent are Russian regions engaged in the online community?'; and 'What steps should we take in order to make the digital economy work for people?'

Around 2,000 participants have registered for the Forum, including representatives from: state bodies; business; scientific institutes; civil society organisations; and the investment community, as well as business delegations from neighbouring countries and those further afield.

Metalloinvest and Mikhailovsky GOK, the Company's enterprise located in the Kursk region, will present their experience of implementing digital technologies in its production at the Forum.

Andrey Varichev, CEO of Management Company Metalloinvest, commented: "The speed at which information is exchanged is growing exponentially, and it is absolutely vital that technological facilities are very flexible and able to react to changes, as well as to take decisions based on precise analytical and operational data. We carefully follow the appearance of new digital solutions that can increase operational and management efficiency, the best of which we implement at Metalloinvest."

In 2016, Metalloivnest launched its Industry 4.0 programme to create an integrated management system. The programme is designed to cut costs, increase profitability and reporting transparency and ensure timely decision making. The main aims of the programme are to transform the Company's business processes and make them more efficient, as well as increasing the precision of their planning and implementation.

Sergey Kretov, Managing Director of Mikhailovsky GOK, commented:"Mikhailovsky GOK operates using MODULAR, an automated mining transport management system. The introduction of MODULAR, along with the technological modernisation and optimisation of the enterprise's production processes, has enabled Mikhailovsky GOK to increase the productivity of its mining transport system by 10-15%. We use an automated system to position our staff in the seepage shaft. The production processes related to drilling and rail transport at Mikhailovsky GOK are also being modernised. The modern digital technologies that Metalloinvest uses at Mikhailovsky GOK ensure the reliable future of the enterprise, as well as the mining town of Zheleznogorsk."
