15 December 2017
Metalloinvest has won the 10th Annual Leaders of Corporate Charity international competition, taking second place in the overall rankings. Metalloinvest’s corporate programme, Let's Do It Together, was recognised as the best at the event, underlining the principles of the Company's social investments.
Metalloinvest is one of the leaders in the field of corporate charity, having now been awarded on three occasions at the Leaders of Corporate Charity competition, something that has not been achieved by any other company.
At the 2017 Leaders of Corporate Charity competition, the companies were assessed according to the following criteria: systematic and consistent charity activities, quality of management, effectiveness of programmes and projects, interaction with stakeholders, partnerships and sharing of experience and best practices.
Independent experts highly valued the activities of Metalloinvest, noting the Company’s systematic approach in the field of corporate social responsibility and its significant contribution to the sustainable development of the regions in which it operates. The competition jury noted Metalloinvest’s positive trend in increasing its efficiency and professionalism in the implementation of charitable projects and programmes.
Julia Mazanova, Director of Social Policy and Corporate Communications at Metalloinvest, commented: "Corporate social responsibility is an integral part of Metalloinvest's strategy for sustainable development. Together with our stakeholders, including local residents, sector experts and representatives of the executive branch, we implement programmes that promote the development of local communities and the formation of an inspiring socio-cultural environment in the regions in which we operate."
Let's Do It Together was launched in 2016 in all of the towns where Metalloinvest operates – Gubkin, Zheleznogorsk, Stary Oskol and Novotroitsk. Within the framework of this competition, legal entities and citizens are given grants for the implementation of socially-oriented projects aimed at improving the quality of life in these towns.
Let’s Do It Together contributes to the growth of social activity amongst residents of the towns in which Metalloinvest operates – the number of applications in 2017 increased by 44%. The competition forms stable initiative groups with great potential for further institutionalisation and the creation of NGOs. Thus, the programme contributes to the development of the non-profit sector in the towns where the Company operates.
Leaders of Corporate Charity is a joint-project initiated by Vedomosti, the newspaper, the Forum of Donors, an organisation that distributes grants, and the PwC international network of audit and consultancy companies. The project was launched in 2008. The goal of the project is to identify the best charitable programmes of companies and distribute information to attract the attention of wider society, the business sector, the government and the media to corporate philanthropy in Russia. In a 2017 study, 52 Russian and international companies operating in the Russian Federation took part.
