OEMK confirms compliance with international standards

19 June 2018

OEMK (part of Metalloinvest) has successfully undergone recertification audits for its quality management system and its environmental management system. Auditors from TUV SUD Management Service GmbH (Munich, Germany) and international certification company DNV GL confirmed that OEMK is in line with the required standards.

The recertification audit of the quality management system, ensuring OEMK’s compliance with the requirements of the IATF 16949: 2016 standard for quality management systems in the automotive industry, is aimed at the constant improvement of product quality, prevention of defects, and reduction of losses in the supply chain. This standard is a continuation of the ISO 9001: 2015 standard, which OEMK previously adhered to. The new standard was developed by the International Task Force of the automotive industry and entered into force in October 2016.

The auditors of the German expert organisation TUV SUD visited the plant's production units, looking at how the quality management system is being applied, and acquainting themselves with the process of "designing" steel products. During the audit, compliance with all requirements of the standard and certification rules was checked.

Having successfully passed the certification process for the new IATF 16949: 2016 version of the standard, OEMK has confirmed that it is a reliable partner and supplier of high-quality steel products for foreign and domestic enterprises in the automotive industry.

The recertification audit reviewing the Company’s environmental management system was conducted by employees of the international certification company DNV GL. It analysed the compliance, implementation and effectiveness of the energy management system at OEMK in line with the international standard ISO 14001: 2015 ‘Environmental management systems. Requirements and guidance for use’. The auditors checked 16 shops and departments of OEMK, including the electric arc furnace shop, rolling mill #1, and the environmental protection department.

During the expert assessment of the management system, no discrepancies were found. Lead auditor DNV GL recommended that OEMK was re-issued the certificate of compliance for its environmental management system with the requirements of the international standard ISO 14001: 2015.
