Metalloinvest enterprises among winners at the ‘Metals and Mining Enterprises with Highly Effective CSR’ competition

OEMK and Ural Steel (part of Metalloinvest) were among the winners at the 2018 ‘Metals and Mining Enterprises with Highly Effective CSR’ industry competition.
OEMK was the winner in the ‘Environmental Protection and Resource Management’ category, while Ural Steel won in the ‘Health Protection and Safe Working Conditions’ category.
The enterprises were awarded certificates from the department of metallurgy and materials of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Russian Association of Metals and Mining Industrialists, and the Russian Metals and Mining Union.
Lebedinsky GOK, another Metalloinvest enterprise, received an honorary certificate for its active participation in the competition.
Andrey Ugarov, First Deputy CEO, COO, Management Company Metalloinvest, said: "Metalloinvest focuses heavily on ensuring safe working conditions, protecting the health of its employees and reducing the impact of production on the environment. In 2017, the Company implemented a set of initiatives to reduce accidents, injuries and occupational diseases. We also invested approximately 6.6 billion roubles last year in upgrading equipment, installing filters and waste gas and water purification systems, and land recultivation, in order to reduce atmospheric emissions and waste volumes."
The all-Russian ‘Metals and Mining Enterprises with Highly Effective CSR’ industry competition is held annually by the Russian Association of Metals and Mining Industrialists and the Russian Metals and Mining Union, in coordination with the department of metallurgy and materials of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The competition is aimed at studying and sharing the experience of leading enterprises, and developing and improving methods of building social partnerships. The participating enterprises are evaluated based on the results of their work with employees and young people, industrial safety, implementation of social programmes, environmental protection and resource management, and the social and economic efficiency of collective agreements.
