Mikhailovsky GOK receives new tracklaying crane

6 July 2018

Mikhailovsky GOK (part of Metalloinvest) has received a new tracklaying crane. The Company purchased the equipment as part of its investment programme to update technology and boost production efficiency.

The tracklaying crane will be an essential unit in the equipment and machinery of Mikhailovsky GOK’s railway transport department, and will be used for repair works and laying railway tracks. Specialists at the railway plant have noted the major advantages that the new equipment provides: high capacity and productivity, the fact that the indicators are conveniently positioned on the control panel, comfort for the driver, and compliance with modern standards of occupational safety.

The new crane has a lifting capability of 21.5 tonnes and can lay track panels up to 25 metres long. It represents a highly important purchase for the enterprise, which contains a continuous railway network over 260 kilometres in length.

Vladimir Turin, Director of the materials-handling equipment service at the railway transport department, commented: “Tracklaying vehicles have already proved very useful. This higher-productivity equipment will serve as a reliable tool in carrying out our operational plan”.

Currently, miners and specialists from the crane’s production facility are collaborating on testing and commissioning work for the new equipment. Electricians, drivers and mechanical technicians are assembling the crane’s removable components and installing its operations system. The tracklaying crane will begin operations after the testing work.
