Metalloinvest expresses condolences following the tragic death of OEMK Managing Director and plant driver

Metalloinvest announces with sadness that on 15 January 2019, OEMK Managing Director Alexander Dmitrievich Tishchenko and plant driver Vasily Yumashev died in a tragic car accident in the Voronezh region.

Andrey Varichev, CEO of Management Company Metalloinvest, said: “This is a huge loss for the Company and a terrible loss for the loved ones, friends and colleagues of the victims. We are in mourning and express our deepest condolences to their families.”

In 1980, Alexander Dmitrievich Tishchenko began working at Novolipetsk Steel Plant (NLMK), where he rose through the ranks from Heat Treatment Technician to Chief Specialist on metal rolling in the technical management department. In 2003, he was appointed Deputy Chief Engineer for technical re-equipping at OEMK. From 2009 to 2011, Alexander Tishchenko worked as Investment and Development Director at OEMK and in 2011 was promoted to Chief Engineer. In December 2018, he was promoted to Managing Director of OEMK.

In 2001, Alexander Tishchenko was awarded the title of ‘Distinguished Metallurgist’. Later, in 2010, he was named ‘Honourable Metallurgist of the Russian Federation’ and in 2014 as ‘Honourable Worker of Metalloinvest’.

Vasily Yumashev joined OEMK as a driver in 2000 and provided an exceptional service to the Company for the following 18 years. He was a reliable and caring colleague and a stellar professional.

Metalloinvest will provide support to the relatives and friends of the victims of the accident.
