Metalloinvest receives SAP Value Award for digital transformation of HR

Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and HBI producer and supplier, and one of the regional producers of high-quality steel, has been awarded the SAP Value Award in the category “People are the most valuable capital".

The competition jury, headed by the President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Alexander Shokhin, recognised Metalloinvest’s project as the best for automation in human resources.

The project also proved popular with the audience – it received the greatest number of online votes.

The project was implemented as part of the comprehensive digital transformation programme at Metalloinvest in conjunction with the consulting company JSA Group (managed by IKS Holding). In 2019, the Company completed the implementation of a unified integrated financial and business management system based on the SAP S/4HANA ERP system. The SAP Human Capital Management (SAP HCM) module was used to transform the HR function.

As a result, the service rate per HR employee increased by almost 20%, and accounting and transaction operations were transferred to a shared service centre (SSC). Moreover, remuneration processes were unified, and uniform algorithms for calculating wages were introduced.

Ruslan Ilyasov, Deputy General Director for Organisational Development and Human Resources Management at Management Company Metalloinvest, commented: “The digital transformation of HR functions has allowed us to accelerate data processing for making managerial decisions, increase the efficiency of business processes and reduce administrative costs by 15%. Today we can confidently say that the level of the Company’s HR management is in line with the best international practices.”

The introduction of self-service solutions has resulted in savings of more than 17mn roubles.

Yulia Shutkina, Vice President of IKS Holding and Head of JSA Group, said: “The project was implemented in three stages - we started with the automation of work processes, then launched self-service solutions (portal services and a HR bot) based on SAP Fiori and instant messengers, which simplified the interaction of HR specialists with employees of the enterprises. The third important stage was the introduction of robots, which helped to accelerate work processes by 2.5 times.”

Last year, Metalloinvest won the SAP Value Award in the “Leader of Digital Transformation” category.
