Best Zheleznogorsk teachers receive 'Calling' awards from Metalloinvest

6 October 2017

On Teachers' Day, the best teachers in Zheleznogorsk and the Zheleznogorsk district received 'Calling' awards from Metalloinvest.

Every year, the 'Calling' award is given to Zheleznogorsk teachers who have devoted many years to the profession and achieved high results, and who pass on their creative potential, knowledge and experience to the younger generation of teachers.

This year, the 'Calling' prize was awarded to ten teachers from the town and two from neighbouring villages. Another prize, entitled 'Pedagogical Debut' was awarded as part of the competition to Olga Meltseva, manager of the 'Sources' Centre for Spiritual and Moral Education, author of a children's primer on the basics of Orthodox Christianity and manager of the 'People's Doll' Further Education Centre.

Sergey Kretov, Managing Director of Mikhailovsky GOK, congratulated the teachers on the holiday, commenting: "We know many of you as genuine devotees of your profession, and as create and active people. And it is with great pleasure that we help you to create modern educational facilities. The Company's Healthy Child, Our Future and Our Champions programmes encourage our teachers to be creative and to seek out new ideas. In the end, our children in Zheleznogorsk are the ultimate winners of this approach, as they receive a high-quality and modern education."

Support for education is one of the priority areas of the Company's social policy. 15 computer classes have been opened in Zheleznogorsk schools with funds from Metalloinvest; windows are being replaced in kindergartens and schools in the town; and schools are being equipped with video surveillance systems. In several schools, multi-purpose sports pitches have been opened. The Company awards special prizes and scholarships for new teachers and schoolchildren who have won educational, creative and sporting competitions.

The Company also implements comprehensive programmes to aid the development of education and provides support in the renovation of educational institutions as part of its partnership agreements with regional administrations.
