On 27 September 2018, Belgorod hosted the awards ceremony for the regional stage of the 2017 ‘Russian organisation with high social efficiency’ competition. OEMK (part of Metalloinvest) won in two categories: ‘Development of human resources in production facilities’ and ‘Resolution of regional social problems and development of corporate philanthropy’.
The efficiency of the human resources policy operating at OEMK allows to structure human resources work into a unified system that aims to boost productivity and efficiently run operations of the enterprise. To protect employees at OEMK, a strong emphasis is placed on the development of social and work relations, recruitment and personnel development. Every year, employees of the enterprise improve their qualifications and undergo professional trainings and re-trainings. In 2017, 7662 employees received training, with 6647 people were trained at the educational centre of the enterprise.
To form a subjective evaluation of working conditions, activities, salary and social benefits, the enterprise annually organises the ‘Your Voice’ survey, which evaluates the level of employee engagement. A segment focused on the talent pool has also been developed and introduced. Around 154 employees, who are part of the human resources team at the enterprise, received training in line with the corporate programme of personnel training.
OEMK implements comprehensive vocational guidance work among students and enters into partnership programmes with educational institutions. In 2017, 263 students from the National University of Science and Technology MISiS and 152 students of the A.A. Ugarov Stary Oskol Technological Institute, a branch of the National University of Science and Technology MISiS and 38 students of other educational institutions interned at the sub- divisions of the enterprise.
The key priority of Metalloinvest’s social policy is to develop the regions where the Company operates. OEMK aims not only to create favourable working conditions for its employees, but also to improve the welfare of their families. The implementation of the social policy takes place as part of a socio-economic partnership agreement with the government of the Belgorod region. Within the Stary Oskol urban district, Metalloinvest implements several targeted programmes supporting education, children’s health, sports, culture and social activities through the ‘Our Future’, ‘Our Champions’, ‘Let’s Make the World Brighter’, ‘Healthy Child’, and ‘Let’s Do It Together’ programmes. In order to increase the interest of young people in the metals industry, support is provided to the A.A. Ugarov Stary Oskol Technological Institute and ‘Zhelezno!’ professional education centre.
Aside from regional and corporate programmes, OEMK implements its own social programmes: improving technical and material resources of educational institutions and organising charitable activities aimed to aid low-income and large families, veterans, pensioners, children left without parents, students and graduates, nursery teachers, and workers of cultural institutions.
