OEMK

OEMK is the only integrated steel company in Russia that carries out direct reduction of iron and smelting in electric furnaces. This allows for steel production that is virtually free from harmful impurities and residual elements.
The main products produced at OEMK are:
- DRI;
- Cast square and rectangular billets;
- Steel products: long steel products, square billets, pipe billets.

2020 |
Continuous Casting Machine #3 (CCM #3) is commissioned at OEMK’s Electric Arc Furnace Shop, following the completion of CCM #3’s technical re-equipping. OEMK is renamed in honour of Alexey Ugarov. OEMK launches ball rolling facility. |
2019 |
OEMK produces its 70-millionth tonne of metallised pellets. OEMK masters the production of new steel grades tailored to customer requirements. OEMK begins installing equipment at its heat treatment facility. OEMK launches reduction and calibration section for Rolling Mill 350’s mid-size production line at Rolling Unit #2 at OEMK |

OEMK launches its own ball rolling production for its Continuous Casting Machine. OEMK launches new water descaling equipment. OEMK opens a warehouse for finished products. |
2017 | Ñonstruction of the third waste disposal facility has been completed. |
2016 |
Construction has begun at OEMK on a reduction and calibration section for Rolling Mill 350’s mid-size production line at Rolling Unit No. 2. The second gas purification unit at the electric arc furnace shop (EAF) has started operations. |
2015 | Modernisation of the second module of the gas purification unit took place at the electric-furnace shop. |
2014 | An oxygen plant with a cryogenic air separation unit (ASU #3) was put into trial operation. |

1975 | The Soviet Council of Ministers signed decree No. 821 "On the construction of Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant (OEMK)" |
1974 | The Ministry of Foreign Trade of the USSR and a group of West German companies signed an agreement in Moscow on a joint venture to establish a metallurgical plant that would use the MIDREX process of direct reduction of iron. |
