Metalloinvest modernises equipment at Mikhailovsky GOK’s beneficiation plant
8 December 2020
Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and HBI producer, and one of the regional producers of high-quality steel, has completed the replacement of magnetic separators at the beneficiation plant at Andrey Varichev Mikhailovsky GOK. This project was implemented as part of the Company's large-scale modernisation and technical re-equipping programme to increase the enterprise’s production volumes.
Replacing the single-drum magnetic separators with more modern and efficient ones will enable an increase in iron ore concentrate production by 10,200 tonnes per year. In the course of six months, 23 separators were replaced at the beneficiation plant. The new equipment is produced domestically and used for beneficiation by wet magnetic separation. Their distinctive features are increased reliability, as well as an ease of use and maintenance.
The design of PMB PP-120/300 separators makes it possible to reposition the magnetic systems, creating an optimal operating mode.
Maxim Moiseev, Head of Beneficiation Area #2 at Andrey Varichev Mikhailovsky GOK, said: “The movement and washing of incoming pulp is more efficient due to a modified tank design in the magnetic separators. As a result, the extraction of valuable components is increased, leading to higher volumes of concentrate.”
The dismantling of the old separators and installation of new ones, each weighing more than five tonnes, was carried out by the plant's mechanical repair team.
