2 April 2021
Metalloinvest has been included in the A category of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG) Disclosure Rating, ranking it as one of the leaders. The results of the new rating, covering 43 companies, were presented at the meeting of the committee of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (the RSPP).
Nazim Efendiev, CEO of Management Company Metalloinvest, said: "We publish information about the Company's contribution to sustainable development on an annual basis, report on our strategy for achieving the SDGs, and showcase our management system for this process and the results achieved. We pay great attention to promoting the SDGs and involving employees, including developing a unique educational course on sustainable development. This year we plan to educate over 12,000 employees, and in the future to open the course up to the general public.”
The UN SDG Disclosure Rating assesses the quality of disclosure in non-financial reporting, and gives insight into companies’ maturity in terms of implementing SDGs into their strategy and business processes. The project aims to improve the quality of sustainability management, increase business transparency and develop responsible business practices.
The rating was prepared at the initiative and with the support of the RSPP Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development. PwC provided methodological support and pilot evaluation of companies using the developed methodology.
Metalloinvest fully supports the UN SDGs which were adopted in 2015 and aimed at addressing the planet's most pressing environmental, economic and social problems.
The Company believes that responsible business conduct and sustainable development activities make a significant contribution towards achieving the SDGs. The Company recognises the importance of all 17 Sustainable Development Goals, with its own activities contributing the most to achieving specific goals, such as protecting health and well-being, increasing access to quality education, improving living standards, ensuring decent work conditions and economic growth, developing industry and infrastructure, and introducing innovative technologies.
