Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and HBI producer and supplier, and one of the regional producers of high-quality steel, is carrying out large-scale repair works at the Neptune and Albatross swimming pools in Zheleznogorsk. The Company allocated 4 mn roubles and 3 mn roubles, respectively, for these works as part of its socio-economic partnership with the Kursk region and the town of Zheleznogorsk.

The pool floor and its waterproofing will be completely renovated in Neptune. According to the pools director Vasily Maslov, they have not had such capital repairs in a long time.

Vasily Maslov said: "The pool floor will be decorated with a glass mosaic. This decorative surface is durable, has high water resistance and minimal porosity. We will also replace the waterproofing base with a high-quality cement and polymer composition. All construction materials comply with sanitary and hygiene standards, safety rules and requirements established for swimming pools."

In addition, Metalloinvest has purchased a special lift for people with disabilities, which will be installed in the pool. Renovation of the swimming pool, including the repair of the main building, is expected to be completed by the end of October.

The reconstruction of the Albatross Swimming School will be completed in early September. On the ground floor, electrical wiring and doors have already been replaced and the floor has been lined with non-slip marble tiles. In the near future the wall lining, ceiling installation and the entrance area will be completed.

Vladimir Kapustkin, Director of Albatross Swimming School, said: "The main task for us is to repair the hall, which will become modern and spacious. Thanks to the support of Metalloinvest, Albatross will become even more functional and comfortable for visitors."
